Jack Marshall

Eb Bass & Chief Tea Maker

Jack Marshall - Eb Bass

Jack started to play the Cornet at the age of 10 with Lofthouse Colliery Band.

After approximately 2 years with Lofthouse Colliery he moved to Horbury Victoria Band where he changed instrument and played Euphonium for several years.

It was then onto Stanley Newmarket Colliery Band where he played for a number of years before moving to Suffolk due to work commitments.

It was during this period Jack played with the Haverhill Silver Band.

In 1978 Jack and his family moved back up north to Scarborough and he then joined the Scarborough Town Band.

Jack played with the Town Band until it ceased as a band due to lack of players around 6 years ago.

It was around this time Jack was asked to play with the newly formed Brass Ensemble “Simply Brass” on Eb Bass and he is still a stalwart member of the Band today.

Jack also plays with the Scarborough Concert Band and Hunmanby Silver Band but maintains his first love is playing with Simply Brass.

Jack is a popular member of the Band and has the honorary role as Tea Maker ensuring the Band are suitably refreshed during rehearsals and no-one can make a cuppa better.
